Hollywood hunk Chris Evans cannot be more thrilled to play Captain America, and the actor has done a fantastic job playing the character in three movies already.
However, before he jumped on board Avengers: Age of Ultron, Evans made a singular request about his character from writer and director Joss Whedon. According to Cinema Blend, Evans wanted Captain America's powers to remain consistent.
"The only thing I kind of talked to Joss Whedon about was his ability consistency. You know, with the second Captain America we really pushed the envelope in terms of what this guy is capable of, which I was excited to see because the first Captain America, he's just strong. In Avengers, it was still in my opinion a little bit punch, punch, kick, kick," he said.
Evans did not want his character's powers to decrease in time. He wanted the patriotic hero to grow not only in strength in ability. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the superhero did seem more capable - diving out over airplanes without parachutes, bravely jumping off skyscrapers, leaping off of motorcycles to destroy jets, and so much more.
It would be weird if Captain America can punch a heavy bag off its chain but not succeed in fighting off regular bad guys. But his character's powers will really be put to the test in Avengers: Age of Ultron, since the group will be battling Hydra soldiers or the Chitauri, the movie's durable robotic villains.
"The foes are a bit more of a challenge, so in a way he's not as effective as I'd like him to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. You know, you have to measure your enemy's ability based on his capacity to win, and sometimes Cap has to take that one to the chin, be the one who gets thrown around a little bit - because these Ultrons are pretty powerful," he said.
It still remains a question whether or not Captain America will be able to successfully defeat the Ultrons, but fans will definitely learn more when Avengers: Age of Ultron finally hits the big screen on May 1.
