The Buffalo Bills are reportedly in the middle of negotiations to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although nothing is official yet, NFL insiders who claim to have knowledge of the deal said the two teams have already discussed a one-on-one trade involving the two players, ESPN reported.
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent of the McCoy, a running back for the Eagles, took to Twitter to confirm that the deal is not yet finalized but said meetings have already taken place.
"I just spoke with the Eagles organization and there is no trade for LeSean at this time," the agent tweeted. "There have been discussions but nothing finalized."
If the deal with McCoy pushes through, then the Bills will no longer need to re-sign running back C.J. Spiller. The athlete himself seemed to confirm this when he spoke to the NFL Network's Total Access.
"[Bills] management called me and told me that they were going in that direction," Spiller said according to USA Today. "Pretty much giving me a 'Thank you for your service.'"
Alonso, on the other hand, will be reunited with Chip Kelly, the current head coach of the Eagles, when he joins the team. Kelly helped coach Alonso during his years playing college football in Oregon.
McCoy first joined the Eagles in 2009 as a second round draft pick. During his time with the team, he had more than 6,700 rushing yards and over 2,200 receiving yards.
As for Alonso, he signed with the Bills in 2013 with a four-year contract. However, after tearing his ACL in July of last year, the team placed Alonso on the reserve/non-football injury list and was forced to sit out the rest of the 2014 season.
The 24-year-old athlete said in February that he has increased his rehab regimen and training routines and is on his way to fully recovering from his injury.
