After getting an Oscar nod for her sterling performance in Gone Girl, fans are eagerly awaiting for Rosamund Pike's next big project, and it seems like The Deep Blue Good-by is going to be it, according to Empire.
The blonde beauty will star in the big screen adaptation of 20th Century Fox of the novel-slash-series written by John D. MacDonald back in 1964. The Deep Blue Good-by is the first title of the 21 books about the life of Travis McGee, a self-proclaimed "salvage consultant" who finds other people's lost property for a fee.
McGee will be played by award-winning actor Christian Bale (Knight of Cups, Exodus: Gods and Kings), and the movie will be directed by James Mangold. The script will be written by Dennis Lehane, with Scott Frank writing the initial draft.
Despite his sleuthing skills, McGee from Florida has a knack for always getting into trouble, since he always stands up to the bad guys and cannot resist wooing dangerous women.
20th Century Fox's Gone Girl grossed over $350 million at the worldwide box office, and even earned Pike an Oscar nomination for best actress for her role as disgruntled wife, Amy Dunne. The two's chemistry seem undeniable so both are hoping that The Deep Blue Good-by will see the same success as Gone Girl, if not more.
After the opening weekend of Gone Girl, 20th Century Fox was so pleased with the results that they offered her the female lead role in the survival drama "The Mountains Between Us," which Pike accepted. But the actress will start shooting for that movie after The Deep Blue Good-by in order to wait for good weather conditions.
Pike is one busy actress since she has just worked on the thriller Return to Sender, and has also been tied to other films such as The Bends and French Window. As for the small screen, she will be voicing Lady Penelope in the new CG-enhanced version of the classic tale The Thunderbirds.
She just gave birth to her second son Atom two months ago, and spectators have been commenting on how the actress managed to successfully get back her pre-pregnancy weight within a span of five weeks.
The actress managed to impress fans by wearing a tight-fitting red Givenchy dress to the Oscars, and Pike made it appear that losing her pregnancy weight was a piece of cake. But her trainer told E! News that she rigorously worked out in order to achieve her current body.
Pike is represented by CAA and Magnolia Entertainment.
