Signing on a 10-year contract to play the same character seems like a very daunting idea in Hollywood, given that a movie's success cannot be guaranteed.

This is exactly what actress Margot Robbie felt when she signed on to play Harley Quinn for 10 more years, but the actress feels optimistic that Harley will be such an interesting character that audiences will no doubt be asking for more of her on screen.

"It's daunting. You don't need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away. But with Harley, it's a character I don't think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did Suicide Squad One, Two, Three, I would be over the moon about it," she said in an interview with AZ Central.

The actress considers Harley as a major role to land, and even though she's not supposed to be revealing any details about the upcoming movie, it's clear that Robbie is more than excited about her new role.

Robbie will star in the 2016 flick Suicide Squad, which will be all about DC super villains who have been recruited by the government to carry out dangerous missions. Her co-stars include Focus leading man Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

It will be written and directed by David Ayer (Fury).

For Suicide Squad, Robbie will be taking on the role of Harley, the lovable yet insane sidekick of the Joker. She is completely devoted to him and follows the Joker wherever he goes. The character became so popular in the comic book universe that she later got her own spinoff comic book series in 2013.

Robbie, who has recently been nominated a BAFTA Rising Star Award following her strong roles in The Wolf of Wall Street and Z for Zachariah said that she likes playing interesting female characters like Harley, and believes that Hollywood should start portraying stronger female characters in the future.

"The most frustrating thing is picking up a script and loving the roles in it except the female ones. It's really annoying and something I've striven to change in the industry. I've actually just started working on the producing side. Our goal is going to be to work with female writers and directors, and female-driven scripts. We want to change things," she said.

Suicide Squad will hit theatres on August 5, 2016.
