The video game development studio Four Funnels Entertainment has launched an Indiegogo campaign for its history-themed project "Titanic: Honor and Glory."

According to the developers, the game will put players inside the ill-fated luxury liner and even let them experience its last moments at sea.

For the development of "Titanic," the studio worked with various consultants to accurately recreate the interior and exterior design of the iconic ship. In addition, the development team included real-life characters in the game such as Captain Edward John Smith and the Titanic's designer Thomas Andrews.

The story mode of the game, however, is fictional. It centers on the protagonist Robert Morgan. He boarded the Titanic as a stow-away after being accused of murdering someone in Southampton, England.

While inside the Titanic, gamers must then interact with the other passengers and crew members to gather clues and prove Morgan's innocence. However, the game's campaign mode has a time limit since the ship will eventually crash into an iceberg and sink. Players must solve the mystery before this happens and survive the disaster.

"When Titanic collides with an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic, the player must race the rising waters to complete the mystery, prove his innocence, and most importantly...survive," the developers wrote in the game's Indiegogo page.

Aside from the main campaign, the game will also offer a free roam mode. This mode does not have a time limit which means they can explore the Titanic and interact with non-playable characters without worrying about the ship sinking.

According to Four Funnels Entertainment, they are planning to release "Titanic" to various platforms. For its PC version, it will deliver a virtual reality gaming experience through the Oculus Rift headset, Cinemablend reported.

Currently, the game has already raised more than $10,000 for its Indiegogo campaign. However, although the developers' goal is to reach $250,000, they noted that they actually need $950,000 in order to fully complete the game. If the campaign reaches $2 million, Four Funnels Entertainment promised to develop content updates, expansion packs and even a live orchestra soundtrack for "Titanic."
