Steven Spielberg just might take on the next Indiana Jones film, and the director has already voiced out who he wants to replace Harrison Ford in the legendary role - Chris Pratt.

Pratt, who shot to fame in the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy" has been hand-picked by the director himself to become the next Indiana Jones, although there is currently no script yet for the new film.

For the meantime, the actor will star in Colin Trevorrow's dinosaur blockbuster film "Jurassic World."

Pratt has tried to remain mum about the rumors, but he finally spoke out about it during the Oscar red carpet. MTV asked him about it and the actor answered, "It's all nothing until it's something and so far it's not something."

He admitted that he is not intimidated by the role and thought that it would be really fun to take on "I don't think it's overwhelming to contemplate. It'd be cool," he said.

Pratt clarified that no one has called him about it yet despite the rumors, so nothing is for certain yet. "There's a lot of talk about it. The pressure would come just because it's such a great franchise you wouldn't want to get it wrong, so for me it would have to be perfect to do it," he noted. "We'll see, like I said it's nothing until it's something."

With a huge fan base and the support of the would-be director, it seems like Pratt is well on his way to take on Indiana Jones' famous fedora.

However, it seems like the original star Ford is not yet ready to say goodbye to the beloved character.

Ford just turned 73 this year and has expressed eagerness to reprise the role of Indiana Jones.

And who can blame him? The Indiana Jones franchise has raked in nearly $2 billion in the global box office, and has inspired numerous novels, toys, games and theme park attractions. It also inspired the prequel TV series " The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles," which ran from 1992 to 1996.

The character was created by George Lucas and first appeared in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, then in 1984 for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In 1989, he was seen again in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Another movie was created several years after with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
