The ever-humble Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds has just thanked his fans for making the Deadpool movie possible, thus giving him a new chance to breathe life into a new superhero.

Using the username @VancityReynolds, the actor took to Twitter and said that his fans deserve all the credit for the creation of Deadpool.

"People keep thanking me for getting Deadpool made. I didn't get it made. YOU did. The internet put Fox in a hammerlock death-grip. #sayuncle," he tweeted.

Reynolds previously played the role of Hal Jordan, also known as the Green Lantern. The movie was considered a real box office flop and fans were upset that there was no emotional content in the movie, unlike other superhero films.

This time around, Reynolds is pretty positive that his new character will be more well-received than Green Lantern since the new movie has a really good script.

"Well, script. When we shot Green Lantern, nobody auditioning for the role of Green Lantern was given the opportunity to read the script, because the script didn't exist. I'm not complaining about it - it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and if I were to go back and retrace my steps, I would probably do everything the exact same way. But script, that's what's different on this one," he told Yahoo!

In fact, the Deadpool script was leaked online and fans were apparently crazy about it, therefore prompting the studio to give it a green light.

"We've had a script for three years. The script got leaked, and people even loved that. That says a lot - if you can create a script around a comic book character that is directly within the canon of the character and be embraced. That's a huge step in the right direction," said Reynolds.

The actor has learned the hard way that superhero films don't actually have a functioning draft on the screenplay until the film is already being shot, but he believes that Deadpool is already well into the right direction.

Despite the Green Lantern's disappointment, Reynolds still managed to get a good deal out of the movie since it is where he met his wife Blake Lively, who played his love interest Carol Ferris. The two are now proud parents to a baby girl.

Relatedly, Homeland star Morena Baccarin has just been cast to play Deadpool's love interest. There are no further news about her role, but fans believe that it will be fellow assassin Domino.
