Fans and followers of the widely renowned TV series, Game of Thrones, are now given another avenue to express their appreciation for George R.R. This edition will showcase the "infamous locations from the original dramatic television series, including Castle Black, Winterfell and King's Landing."

Similar with the usual rules in the classic board game, this version will require the players to "buy, sell, and trade their way to sit atop the Iron Throne." In addition, the Game of Thrones Collector's Edition of MONOPOLY will offer various collectible tokens such as the Iron Throne, Direwolf, Crown, Three-Eyed Raven, White Walker, and Dragon Egg.

As expected from this edition, the typical red hotels and green houses present in the board game will be replaced by the custom villages and keeps consistent with those featured in the show. As of the moment, no official announcement has been made on the specific release date of the game. However, HBO assured that this will be released within the year 2015.

The news of this exciting new game was officially announced by the handler of the Game of Thrones via Twitter. "'The Iron Bank is the Iron Bank.' Coming in 2015, Monopoly #GameOfThrones edition," the post shared to its more than two million followers in the social networking site.

A comparison drawn by The Independent between the nature of the game Monopoly itself and the central themes governing the Game of Thrones points out the fact that both tackle the struggle and sacrifices the characters make to gain, or retain power, wealth, and control.

In addition, both demand effective strategies for one to achieve success. Hence, the report remarked that the decision to combine both "arguably makes it a perfect fit as the first mainstream Game of Thrones board game."

Although the age group that the original Monopoly game targets start at eight years old, this version requires the players to at least be 18 years and over due to the themes of death, war, and violence prevalent during the play.
