Universal Pictures has finally given a release date for the highly-anticipated science fiction flick Jurassic World.

The movie is set to dominate the big screen on June 12, 22 years after the original Jurassic Park had audiences scrambling towards the back of their seats, Universal Pictures announced.

The movie is directed by Colin Trevorrow, and the third instalment for the dinosaur film stars Guardians of the Galaxy lead actor, Chris Pratt, Twilight actress Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Ty Simpkins, and Jake Johnson.

The making of the movie has gone through several developments. It has been in the development stage for more than 10 years already. First, the release date has been pushed back from the initial 2005 launch several times. But thanks to the producers' persistence, the dinosaur thriller by Steven Spielberg will finally be roaring in different 3D/2D and IMAX theatres all across North America.

Jurassic World will introduce new characters to the franchise, including Vic Hoskins (played by Vincent D'Onofrio). He is head of the park's security operations and is responsible for keeping visitors safe from Jurassic World's previously prehistoric reptiles.

But a new viral clip revealed that Hoskins' tight security is no match for the dinosaurs' might, particularly the Indominus Rex and the giant will threaten everything Hoskins has worked hard on maintaining.

The new dinosaur Indominus Rex, which has been formally introduced by Jurassic World, has been described as "the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World." Its name is enough to put fear into the hearts of people, since it means fierce and untameable king.

Its aggression index is very high, and its fearsome roar can reach 140-160 decibels, almost the same as a 747 taking off and landing.

The dinosaur closely resembles the T-Rex, but it has a distinctive head ornamentation and tough bony osteoderms.

The new dinosaur is sure to be a big hit among audiences, and even toy makers Hasbro has cashed in on the Jurassic World license, Forbes reported. They debuted their Indominus Rex toy during the Toy Fair in New York. The $35 dinosaur can roar, chomp, and even has a "camouflage" back that can change skin colors thanks to changing LED system.

Lego has also joined in the Jurassic World bandwagon with Jurassic World sets, which are slated for release on May. The sets will feature key scenes from the movie, and have dinosaurs such as the Dilophosaurus, Pteranodon, T-Rex, two Raptors, and of course, the Indominus Rex.
