The "Get to Work" expansion pack for "The Sims 4" will allow players to choose four different careers for their Sim characters.
Game publisher Electronic Arts announced through the game's website that the expansion is scheduled to be released in April of this year.
"Get to Work" adds a new facet to the overall game play experience of the "Sims" franchise. Although players can choose jobs for their characters in previous "Sims" games, they don't get to see their Sims when they work.
In the expansion pack, however, gamers can actively control their characters as they take on the responsibilities of their chosen professions. Through "Get to Work", players can choose if they would like their Sims to work as scientists, doctors, police detectives or entrepreneurs.
Being a scientist will allow Sims to create various inventions which they could either use to help or harm other characters. As an emergency room doctor, on the other hand, the character will have to perform various hospital services such as curing patients, performing surgeries and even delivering babies.
In the role of a police detective, Sims will start out as an ordinary cadet and work their way up to the rank of a police officer. As officers of the law, they can go around town investigating crimes and arresting offenders.
Lastly, being an entrepreneur allows players to open a variety of businesses in the "Sims 4" world. Using the game's Build Mode feature, they can customize the look of their shops and the products they sell.
According to Lyndsay Pearson, the creative director of "Sims 4," players can only choose one career for each Sim. However, she clarified that gamers can still create sideline jobs for their characters.
"If you're picking between a doctor, scientist or detective, that is a career track and you can only have one of those at a time," she explained to Gamespot. "A different Sim, of course, could have a different one."
"But you'll be able to run a business on the side as well," Pearson added. "So if you want to be a doctor who happens to sell garden plants on the weekend, you can set that up."
