After news broke out that the production of the Nexus 5 will be completely halted, Google United States released an official statement, announcing that company will continue selling the Nexus 5 on Google Play Store and select retailers, including Best Buy and Amazon, during the first quarter of 2015.

While the Android device is sold out at the moment, the public can look forward to its return next year, contrary to previous reports suggesting that the device will be discontinued permanently.

"Once they are gone, they're gone, so we'd suggest people get them while they can," a Google spokersperson previously stated.

However, it remains uncertain whether the production of the predecessor of the Nexus 6 will truly be stopped after the first quarter of next year. Currently, such device from LG has been made available in 16GB and 32GB variants and is being deemed as one of the most popular and widely bought Android devices.

Running the Android KitKat 4.4, users of the Nexus 5 can already enjoy the Android 5.0 Lollipop update that was recently rolled out. Concerns with the screen display can be addressed with the device's Corning Gorilla glass that protects its 4.95-inch full HD display.

The Nexus 5 is incorporated with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, a 2.26 GHz processor, the Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. With a 2,300 mAh battery, support for connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The device comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera integrated with Optical Image Stabilization and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.

Meanwhile, the new and bigger Nexus 6 is also out of stock on Google's product page, but the company promised that more units will be made available soon.

"We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible," Google stated on the official product page. "To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then."

Even handset manufacturer Motorola has declared that the device is out of stock in its own product page.

The public can still avail of the Nexus 6 through major mobile carriers including T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. Verizon will be carrying the device soon, but there have been no official prices or release dates yet.
