Vivo has officially introduced its X5 Max handset, deemed as the thinnest smartphone in the world. Aside from its design, the X5 Max was also recognized for its decent features and specs.

The device measures 4.75 mm, slightly slimmer than the previous titleholder of the slimmest smartphone ever, the Oppo R5, which measured 4.85 mm. The two devices have been constantly compared owing to a number of similarities between the two.

While X5 Max resembles the Oppo R5, they also look a lot like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. The two slim smartphones feature brushed aluminum on the back cover along with shiny white plastic strips  at the top and bottom portions.

The new X5 Max features a Super AMOLED display of 5.5 inches, complete with full HD resolution. It can support both the nano SIM and the micro SIM cards. Furthermore, the slot for the nano SIM card can be turned into a slot for a microSD card.

Aside from a 5-megapixel front camera, the X5 Max also comes with a 13-megapixel rear snapper that uses the Sony IMX214 Exmor RS sensor and slightly bulges from the phone. The device also offers 2GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage.

Running the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, Vivo's slimmest phone is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 815 processor. It is necessary for users to update the device to Android 5.0 Lollipop to make the most of the 64-bit processing.

Sabre and Yamaha have also provided audio processing chips to turn on the X5 Max's "Karaoke Mode". As such, users can look forward to singing and listening to their own voices as they hear the music through their headphones.

Interestingly, the device has been incorporated with a headphone jack, a definite plus point compared to the Oppo R5 that lacks such feature and only allows users to put on their headphones with the microSD card slot.

The X5 Max is set to roll out in China on December 22 with retail price set at $490. India may also be getting its hands on the device as it will reportedly be launched in the country on December 15.
