Countless social issues are affecting the world today, and one issue that has been especially capturing the attention of the U.S. is the racial tension that has resurfaced due to the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Freddie Gray over the past several months. Since the first incident in August, Christian leaders in various contexts have been discussing the issue of racial reconciliation, but many Korean Americans have begged the question: Where are the Korean American Christian leaders in these discussions? For many, the lack of a voice from the Korean American church on such issues seemed to reflect a lack of engagement of the Korean American church with other cultures in general.READ MORE

God's Grace Compels the Christian into a Lifestyle of Justice, Says Walter Brueggemann

Church

While Christians may be aware of the fact that their faith should be carried out into actions of love and grace towards others, they find that actually doing so is much easier said than done. Where there is hurt or traumatic experiences involved, it becomes much more difficult for Christians to love and serve others with grace, and much easier to operate out of the world's "eye-for-an-eye" standards. However, at Fuller Theological Seminary's recent forum, Walter Brueggemann, author of The Prophetic Imagination and Praying the Psalms, exhorted Christians into living out a lifestyle of grace and justice by citing examples of the grace that God has shown Israel in the Old Testament.READ MORE

The Abba Conference: "God's Pleasure Toward You Goes Before Your Performance"

Christians would readily agree that the gift of salvation and a relationship with Christ is one that is freely given by God and received by an individual by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. However, in the midst of discouraging circumstances, and life experiences that have shaped a person's outlook and perspective, it seems that actually living that truth out in freedom is more of a struggle rather than an easy endeavor for many Christians.
