Mnet’s Super Star K Season 6 announced that Feel Kim and Jin Eon Kwak will be moving onto the finals. On the 14th the audition program announced that Do-Hyeok Lim, who was part of the TOP 3 that made it into the semifinals will no longer be able to participate in the tournament.

The TOP 3’s assignment for the semifinals was to sing songs that were given to them by fan vote. Before going into their individual performances, the three sang “Let it Be” (The Beatles) as a collaboration, signaling the beginning of the semifinals.

First in line was Do-Hyeok Lim who sang “Like How You Sent Me Away With A Smile” by Eun-Ha Lee. He probably gave his most stunning performance so far, and even the judges expressed that Lim had made a good decision when choosing which song to sing for this assignment. They complimented him for his voice which they described as “captivating” to any audience. The judges awarded Lim a total of 379 points.

Next in line was Jin Eon Kwak who sang “What If I” by Chi-Hwan Ahn. Kwak took an unexpected turn by putting down his guitar in the middle of his performance and started playing the piano. This was noted by the panel of judges that it was very unexpected and affective. Bunsoo Kim, a popular singer and a member of the panel of judges for Super Star K6 made many complimentary remarks regarding Kwak’s signature low-tone voice which he described could “wet the hearts of any audience”. The singer even went as far as to call him “Jin Eon Over Flowers” referring back to the Korean soap opera. Kwak scored 374.

Feel Kim was the last contestant. Kim, who is often referred to as the “Icicle Vocalist” chose to sing “Red Camel” by Seonghwan Lee. Kim received mixed reviews from his critics. On the one hand Ji-Young Beak and Seong-Chul Lee stated that Kim’s own identity was not well-delivered though this song, On the other hand, Bumsoo Kim and Jong-Shin Yoon noted that they saw great potential in his arrangement ability. In the end, he was awarded a total of 373 points.

The judges’ scores only made up 50 percent of the contestants’ report card however. Fans were also invited to vote online who their favorite performer was, and Mnet announced that Lim will no longer be a part of Super Star K6. Lim expressed great gratitude to the show and the judges to perform before such a great audience and described his experiences in Super Star K as “dreamlike”. He also expressed a great deal of respect to Bumsoo Kim who told him he was moved and that he appoints him Korea’s best “visual singer”.
