Movie Son of God

The Korean Churches for Community Development (KCCD) is trying to advertise and promote 20th Century Fox’s “Son of God”. They’re goal is to inform the Korean and Korean American community about this new motion picture on the life of Christ. The film is scheduled to be released on the 28th in around 3000 theaters.

The producers of “Son of God”, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, are already well known for their TV series “The Bible”, which was broadcast on March the previous year. The series was comprised of 10 episodes which feature the entirety of the Bible from the Creation to the age of the Apostles, and each one had over 10 million viewers when broadcast. The director of “Son of God”, Christopher Spencer, and Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado who played Jesus were also involved in the making of “The Bible”.

On February 10th, KCCD had a premiere for “Son of God” for Korean pastors and other church leaders at CGV cinemas. There was total silence for the entire 2 and a half hour duration of the film. Ken An, a representative of Pan Pacific Film Festival (PPFF), expressed his satisfaction with the movie, describing as the first good film about Jesus in 10 years.

KCCD is currently trying to have “Son of God” be shown with Korean subtitles in 3 different regions; LA, Orange County and Gardena.
