The Seattle branch of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, which started classes this fall, held an opening worship service at Lighthouse Church.
Central Baptist Theological Seminary, which has a history of 113 years, held a worship service at Seattle Lighthouse Church in commemoration of the beginning of the fall semester at the Seattle branch of the seminary.

Central has its main office and campus in Kansas, and also has other branches in Milwaukee, WA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Seattle, WA; and Los Angeles, CA. The Seattle branch has started a few programs in Korean, including Master’s and Doctoral programs for Theology and Divinity.

Central Baptist Theological Seminary is accredited by both the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the Higher Learning Commission’s North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCACS), and accordingly, credits earned from Central will be acknowledged by other seminaries and universities in the U.S., according to Molly Marshall, the president of Central.

Samuel Park, the director of the Korean programs, introduced the Green Scholarship that is awarded specifically to Korean applicants, by which students can save over $200 per unit.

“We want to raise up leaders in the Korean church and send them out to mission fields, and as a result of that desire, we’re offering these generous scholarships and expanding our campuses across the nation,” Park added.

“Lighthouse Church has been offering our church space to Central, a seminary that has been approved by many throughout its history, to use for their educational purposes for the past three years,” said Reverend Yohan Park of Lighthouse Church. “We know that those who receive Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Central will be receiving high quality education.”

Central Baptist Theological Seminary is part of the American Baptist Churches (ABC) USA denomination, and graduates will be able to minister in churches within ABC, Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and other associations.
