The Pacific Presbytery of Korea Presbyterian Church Abroad (KPCA) had its second session for two days starting October 2nd at the Federal Way Mission Church.

Pastor Chun Ho Song from Federal Way Mission Church preached a sermon titled, “The Societal Views of a Citizen of Heaven,” and members of the presbytery also had communion together, led by Pastor Yun Dam Park.

During the proceedings that followed, the following pastors were elected into their respective offices: Pastor Sang Pok Kim from Early Christian Glory Presbyterian Church as the president of the presbytery; Pastor Jong Kwan Yang from All Nations Church as the secretary; Pastor Chun Woong Kim from Hawaii Young Rak Church as historian; Nam Sup Kim from Hanbit Church as the treasurer.

“Citizens of heaven should have a societal perspective in which the strong serves and comforts the weak,” said Pastor Song during his sermon. “Churches of the Pacific Presbytery and all churches should go forward as a body of Christ that has its foundation in God’s love and compassion.”

“Our hope is that our presbytery will be established as one that helps in world missions,” said Pastor Sang Pok Kim as he was placed into office as president. “We hope that the Pacific Presbytery could become one in which churches can use the presbytery’s finances transparently, one that all church members can actively participate in, and one that God is pleased with,” he added.

The Pacific Presbytery was officially approved as a separate presbytery in May at the general assembly which took place in Fullerton, and on June 30, the presbytery celebrated its beginnings with a worship service. The regions that are included in this presbytery are the northwestern regions in the U.S., California, and Hawaii, and the presbytery currently has 10 churches and one mission field location.
