With the return of ‘Supernatural’ season 11 from its mid-season hiatus drawing near, more drama is expected for Sam and Dean Winchester. The fall finale came to an end with a dilemma for the hunters, as Sam gets shut in a cage in hell by Lucifer while Dean learns about his destiny with Amara, before she was carried away by angels in black clouds.

The midseason premiere episode will be titled ‘The Devil Is In The Details,’ and is likely to bring on grave consequences for the Winchester brothers, especially with the devil himself having deceitful plans for the siblings.

After tricking Sam to go into the cage, episode 10 will show the devil giving the former a way out of the trap but with a hefty price, which could bring on more difficulties for him and his brother.

Dean and Amara’s relationship could also be one of the main storylines for the midseason premiere; the official synopsis mentions Dean and Castiel as well as the angel’s attack that could have taken the life of Amara.

The official trailer for the ‘Supernatural’ season 11 midseason premiere hints at a Christmas special for viewers with which the video’s voiceover states: "Supernatural has a present for you, but you can't open it until January." Audiences can also identify Lucifer dressed as Santa Claus in the footage.

Despite having gone missing in the midseason finale, Castiel will make a comeback on the show with a motive that is of great consequence. According to actor Misha Collins, Castiel will make an agreement with the devil himself.

"In an effort to combat the Darkness, in a sense, Cas makes another deal with the Devil that becomes another one of those things that everyone probably knows is a bad idea, but he does it,” Collins said in an interview with Buddy TV.

As for Rowena, her emotional back-story will finally unfold in episode 10. Actress Ruth Connell previously opened up to Nerdist about her thoughts regarding the character’s background.

“There were some things that I just imagined for Rowena's backstory and now we literally see what I've always imagined,” Connell shared. “I love that the fans are going to get to find out how and why she is the way she is. We get to go to some really emotional places."

‘Supernatural’ season 11 makes its comeback for its midseason premiere on Jan. 20, 9 p.m., on The CW.
