As far as movies are concerned this 2016, people simply cannot wait for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" to come out.

Hot off the heels of the success met by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it seems like people are extremely eager to explore the franchise and the world and characters it has created.

A survey was conducted by online ticketing service Fandango, which is a subsidiary of NBCUniversal.

They conducted the survey during the last weeks of December in order to find out which films, stars, and roles they were most looking forward to seeing this 2016.

"Rogue One" might be due out on December 16, but it is already leading the pack of highly anticipated movies. The movie will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Meanwhile, Disney's "Finding Nemo" sequel entitled "Finding Dory" is fans' second choice of must-watch movie this 2016. Coming in at third is Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's superhero flick "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," which stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, and more.

Next in the list are "Bourne 5," "Captain America: Civil War," "Star Trek Beyond," "Independence Day: Resurgence," "X-Men: Apocalypse," "Zoolander No. 2," and "The Jungle Book."

As for the most anticipated actor and actress, fans chose Matt Damon in "Bourne 5" and Melissa McCarthy in Sony's "Ghostbusters," respectively.

Trailing in after Damon are Will Smith from "Suicide Squad," Ryan Reynolds from "Deadpool," Ben Affleck from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and George Clooney from "Hail, Caesar!"

Coming in after McCarthy are Scarlett Johansson from "Captain America: Civil War," Jennifer Lawrence from "X-Men: Apocalypse," Emily Blunt from "The Girl on the Train," and Charlize Theron from "The Huntsman: Winter's War."

They deemed Sophie Turner from Fox's "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the most anticipated rising female star while new web-slinging actor Tom Holland from "Captain America: Civil War" is their pick as most anticipated rising male star.

Riz Ahmed from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Tye Sheridan from "X-Men: Apocalypse," Stephan James from "Race," and Ed Speleers from "Alice Through the Looking Glass" closely followed Holland while

Leslie Jones from "Ghostbusters," Karen Fukuhara from "Suicide Squad," Christina Wren from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and Nadia Hilker from "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" came after Turner.
