Crossovers are all the rage in superhero movies nowadays, and "Avengers: Infinity War" just might bring the Avengers together with the Defenders.

However, co-director Anthony Russo is saying that it won't be that easy to merge the worlds of the Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist with that of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, and the others.

"It's complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories it's difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others," he explained during the CCXP, a Brazilian comic-con. "Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it's more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel's most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, Spider-Man became possible!"

Speaking of Spider-Man, Russo is excited to see the web-slinging hero's story unfold in "Captain America: Civil War." Even though they were initially advised not to incorporate his storyline into the movie, they went ahead with it anyway.

"From the second we had the idea to do the story of 'Civil War,' Spider-Man was a part of the story," he told CBM. "It was a very complicated business arrangement for Marvel Studios to be able to use Spider-Man from Sony. So, we were always told by Marvel 'Don't count on it, you may not get to use Spider-Man, so you better have a plan B' And we were like 'Okay, we get it, we have a plan B if don't get Spider-Man; we'll figure the movie out'. But the truth is, we never had a plan B. We only have envisioned the movie with Spider-Man. He was always a part of the story. It was very important to us to reintroduce the character."

He even guaranteed that the next Marvel film will have a little bit of everything. "I think the movie has a healthy balance between very serious, interesting and very surprising storytelling, and sort of light, fun wits and humor," he shared.
