As revealed this week, Sony Pictures Animation confirmed that ‘Hotel Transylvania 3’ will make its way to theaters in September 2018.

First unveiled in 2012, the original ‘Hotel Transylvania’ was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of hit animated shows, such as ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ and ‘Samurai Jack,’ raking in over $350 million at the worldwide box office.

Its sequel, the recently-unveiled ‘Hotel Transylvania 2,’ brought in a more considerable figure as Drac and his pack passed the $373.6 million mark worldwide. The film also soared to the fourth spot at the domestic box office more recently, six weeks after it was released.

Casting details for ‘Hotel Translyvania 3’ have not yet been announced, although the second movie did feature the voice talents of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Keegan-Michael Key, Molly Shannon, Jon Lovitz, Fran Drescher and Mel Brooks.

As for directorial duties, Tartakovsky previously mentioned that he may not return to helm the third movie.

Released last Sept. 25, ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’ followed the story of Mavis (Gomez) and Jonathan (Samberg) happily exchanging wedding vows and having just had their first baby.

While he has opened his hotel’s doors to human guests, Dracula is anxious about his half-human, half-vampire grandson Dennis, who does not show any signs of having vampire blood or any monster-related symptom in him.

As Mavis sets out to visit her human in-laws with Johnny, Dracula asks help from his best buddies, including Frank (James), Murray (Key), Wayne (Buscemi) and Griffin (Spade), to place Dennis in a monster training camp and awaken any monster-related tendencies in the child, if there is any.

Drac is also in for a shock when his own father Vlad (Brooks) pays a surprise visit at the hotel only to find out that his great-grandson is not a pure-blood vampire.

Meanwhile, Sony is also bringing ‘Hotel Transylvania’ onto the small screen as the studio, along with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, confirmed its plans of having an animated TV series adaptation.

It will follow Mavis’ experiences during her teen years being spent with her eccentric pals. No casting details have been announced yet, although the series has already been set for a premiere in early 2017.

“We’re excited to be entering into a new relationship with Sony Pictures Animation to extend the world of ‘Hotel Transylvania’ into a new TV series,” said Bohm, vice president and head of Corus Kids. “The hilarious characters and clever premise of ‘Hotel Transylvania’ set the stage for endless story possibilities.”

As for ‘Hotel Transylvania 3,’ the film makes its premiere on Sept. 22, 2018.
