Microsoft is rumored to be preparing to launch its Surface Pro 4 hybrid device during an event scheduled on October 6.

Various sources noted that the company has already started sending out invitations for an event happening in New York City.

According to Computer World, the company did not reveal the details of the upcoming event in its invites. Instead, Microsoft only mentioned that the affair will focus on Windows 10 devices. Since this the company's latest operating system platform, it's probably safe to say that the event will serve as the main stage for the introduction of new Microsoft gadgets running on this firmware.

"We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices," the company wrote in an invite obtained by The Verge. "Join for the media briefing at the Skylight at Moynihan Station in New York City on October 6th at 10:00 a.m. EDT."

Although the company did not mention the devices that will be featured in the event, the Surface Pro 4 has been appearing in various lately. However, leaks about the specs of the company's upcoming hybrid laptop-tablet device are scarce, which indicates it probably hasn't entered production yet. Usually, leaks about new devices come from the company' manufacturing and supply partners.

But, as previously promised by the company, the Surface Pro 4 will retain some of the distinct design qualities of its predecessor. Based on this concept, the upcoming device can be expected to come with a kickstand on its rear side which can be used to prop up the tablet. It will also most likely come with a bundled keyboard panel that can be attached to the device so it can be used as a laptop.

As for its other specs, Microsoft could incorporate various changes such as a bigger screen and improved resolution settings. Previous rumors suggested that the device will come with a 14-inch display, which is significantly larger than the Surface Pro 3's 12-inch screen.

And, since the Surface Pro 4 will run on the Windows 10 operating system, the upcoming device will probably sport new interface features and other updated programs.

But aside from the new tablet model, Microsoft is also expected to unveil a couple of next-generation smartphones during the October 6 event. As reported by ZDNet, these devices, which were previously codenamed as Cityman and Talkman, will reportedly be unveiled as the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL.

Both handsets are expected to come with the Windows 10 operating system and will sport 5.2 and 5.5-inch screens respectively. The three models will be powered by the Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm and pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage.
