Sarah Hyland tripped onstage while walking with ‘Pitch Perfect’ actor Skylar Austin at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015. Hyland and Austin were onstage to present the Choice Comedian award to Ellen DeGeneres.

“You guys. I tripped. I tripped on camera. I tripped on stage in front of all you. ‪#mylife‬ ‪#clumsyforlife‬. Like a graceful swan,” tweeted 24-year-old Hyland on Sunday evening. “I'm gonna take this and run as far as possible... Without tripping.”

Hyland’s shoe got caught on a long neon blue fixture. The actress did not fall on her face and was able to get herself back in balance. She wore a yellow satin two-piece and white stiletto heels at the event. Her highlighted hair was styled with a braid.

“I do that sometimes. I’m awkward like that,” confessed Hyland to the crowd at the TCAs.

Prior to the brief onstage malfunction, Hyland was interviewed by E!News on the red carpet regarding her thoughts on co-star Ariel Winter’s recent surgery. Hyland, who played Winter’s older sister on ‘Modern Family’ for seasons said that she was “super proud of her.”

Winter underwent a breast reduction surgery on June 4, 2015. The 17-year-old actress had neck and back problems, which caused her pain and did not allow her to stand up straight for long periods of time. Her size was reduced from a 32F to a 34D.

“She's a tiny girl. We're practically the same size. I'm about a half of an inch or an inch taller than her and I can't imagine carrying that weight. She's happy and most of all, she is healthy. She's glowing,” said Hyland. “As long as she's healthy and happy, that's all that matters to me. She's always been a very happy little girl—oh, God, I will still her as an 11-year-old in my eyes. She's really like my little sister."

Hyland stars as Haley Dunphy, the eldest daughter of three children in 'Modern Family.' She also starred as Natalie Dashkov in 'Vampire Academy' alongside her boyfriend Dominic Sherwood.
