Selena Gomez was confronted for being followed by Zayn Malik on Twitter in an interview with BBC Radio 1 on Friday, Aug. 14. The “Good for You” singer said that she did not know about it until someone else pointed it out to her.

“How does it feel to be followed by Zayn Malik on Twitter? He just started following you,” asked a host.

Gomez, who has 31.8 million followers on Twitter said that she “just didn’t know who followed” her. She said that it was not weird at all for Malik to follow her.

“Obviously I know Zayn, though, so it’s not like a weird thing. I just didn’t know who followed me,” said 23-year-old Gomez. “Thanks for the follow, Zayn!”

When asked if she decided to follow Malik back, she could not recall if she did or not. “I don’t know. I don’t think I did. But I will right now. It’s on my phone. I should do it,” responded Gomez.

Before ending the interview with BBC Radio 1, Gomez clarified to fans, the meaning behind the first line of “Good for You,” which states, “I’m on my 14 carats. I’m 14 carats.” She said that the line refers to her being a 14-carat diamond. British fans thought it was “I’m farting carrots.”

Gomez is currently working on her second solo album entitled, “Revival.” She said that she came up with the title while she was in Mexico. She said that the album is different from her previous work and that it is “sensual, funky, and cool.”

Gomez and Malik are both single. Malik, 22, recently broke up with his fiance Perrie Edwards via text in early Aug. 2015. They are also both pursuing a solo music career. Malik, who quit One Direction, signed a contract with RCA Records in July 2015.
