‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ star Wayne Brady is being honored for raising awareness on mental health and addiction issues at the 10th Annual Voice Awards at the University of California, Los Angeles on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will award Brady with a Special Recognition Award for sharing his testimony on recovering from depression and for improving public notions about health.
The 2015 Voice Awards will be hosted by ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress Chandra Wilson. The event will focus on the impact that suicide has on individuals, families, and communities.
The event serves to mesh the entertainment industry and the behavioral healthy community to recognize individuals and media productions that raised public awareness in the understanding of disorders and recovery.
The Voice Awards honor people who share stories of their personal journeys in navigating mental health or substance abuse and who have demonstrated that people will these struggles can recover, and even give back to their communities.
The awards ceremony will be conducted at Royce Hall from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (PT).
