The latest patch released by Nintendo for the "Super Smash Bros. 4" features a number of changes particular for the characters of the game.

As noted by the development studio, the abilities of some characters have been altered in order to provide a more balanced game play experience for gamers.

As pointed out by iDigital Times, gamers might not be able to notice these changes immediately since not all characters were tweaked through the latest update.

According to the patch 1.1.0's notes posted on the game's community board, the damages caused by some characters' attacks have been reduced while other were increased.

Some of the characters that have been altered include classic members of the game's roster such as Martin, Robin, Palutena, Wii Fit Trainer and Lucina. The skill and abilities of newcomers Roy of "Fire Emblem" and Ryu from "Street Fighter," however, were unchanged.

The damage caused by Captain Falcon's Back Air attack, for example, was reduced to 13 percent from 14 percent. The character's Jab Rapid Finisher was also modified and now has a horizontal displacement of 10u instead of 14u.

Another character that was modified is Kirby. Instead of seven percent, the character's Forward Throw can now only cause five percent damage.

But aside from damage reductions, other characters also received significant improvements in terms of their abilities. One of these is Lucas from the game "Mother 3."

The character's Forward air can now cause a sour spot damage of nine percent, instead of eight. The character's hit and grab boxes also received significant improvements.

According to Master Herald, the changes to the characters were probably made by Nintendo in order to provide players with fair chances of winning. By tweaking certain powerful and low-level characters, "Super Smash Bros. 4" will hopefully have more balanced matches.

Aside from character changes, the latest patch also comes with new content. This includes new Mii costumes for character such as K.K. Slider, Chrom and K. Rool. New stages as well as the Tourney Mode were also added to the game through the latest patch.

"Super Smash Bros. 4" officially came out late last year exclusively for Nintendo's 3DS and Wii U platforms. The game currently has 55 playable characters but rumors suggest that other will be added to its roster through upcoming DLC.

One of these is the main character from the "Shantae" game series. This rumor emerged after Cristina Valenzuela, the voice behind Shantae, was included in IMDB's list of voice actors for "Super Smash Bros. 4."
