The announcement that the highly coveted role of "Wonder Woman" was bagged by Gal Gadot did not come without any protest from fans and followers of the franchise. While a number of people seem reluctant - with some downright hostile - about her casting for the powerful DC Comics character, the actress stands firm on her capacity to deliver and promises that her portrayal of the superhero will put those doubts to rest.

Speaking with Interview Magazine, Gadot revealed that she is well-aware of the pressure linked with playing such an iconic superhero character. As if that was not enough, "Wonder Woman" is also the first female comic book hero to hit the big screen. The actress said, "Oh, my God, I'm so excited about this role." She went on to say, "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for."

"There's a lot of responsibility," Gadot admitted. She added, "But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood." While "Wonder Woman" will have a standalone film come June 23, 2017, Gadot will first grace the big screen on the premiere of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice." Hence, fans of the model turned actress can expect to have their first glimpse of Gadot's "Wonder Woman" in March 2016.

As pointed out in the interview, one of the burdens of landing a role of a superhero character is that the part already has legions of followers. Hence, the pressure of delivering a performance that will match the expectations of these avid fans could be quite challenging to say the least. As mentioned earlier, Gadot's casting for the "Wonder Woman" role has been plagued by controversies and protests from some of the most passionate fans of the lady hero.

"No matter what you do, you can never please them all," Gadot said, referring to the haters who keep pointing out that she is not at all fit for the role. She added, "People will always have something to say because that's the way people are. And it's okay. But for me, it's my job. It's my career. It's my art." The "Wonder Woman" star went on to say, "Whatever I do, I take it very seriously and I do my research and I give it my best." She further stated, "I just want to be able to shine and inspire people. And it's not just about me. It's the script and the story and the acting. I hope people are going to love it."
