Fans and followers of 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson were alarmed earlier this week when reports of her possible kidnapping emerged and immediately became viral online. With the news originating from the set of the upcoming live action Disney film, "Beauty and the Beast," the staff and producers of the said project quickly came up with a plan and added extra security for the UN Goodwill Ambassador. However, an update on the situation revealed that the alarming news is false and Watson remains safe.

"The story was looked into by production and found to be unsubstantiated and untrue," disclosed a spokesperson of the studio via Vogue UK. In addition, the authorities in charge in the Surrey Area of the United Kingdom said that no information regarding the kidnapping plot has been reported in their office.

The news came to light when a report from The Sun UK disclosed that two unidentified studio workers discussing the sinister plot to abduct Watson were overheard by a cab driver. Distressed by this piece of information, he immediately informed the executives of "Beauty and the Beast" and the bosses at Shepperton Studios in London in an effort to ensure the safety of Watson. "There was concern about her safety," a source told The Sun UK. The insider added, "The taxi staff reported what had been overheard after a night shoot."

According to the report, the two men were talking about their plans in a foreign language. Unbeknownst to them, the taxi driver knew the language and understood their intentions. The report further disclosed that the plotting studio workers were cleaners who hail from eastern Europe. "They said the two studio staff travelling in the cab were chatting in a foreign language, unaware that the driver could understand every word," the source revealed. The insider went on to say, "It is shocking to think anyone would want to rob or harm Emma, particularly a member of studio staff."

However, this is not the first time Watson is confronted by issues on stalking and potential kidnapping. In her 2011 film, "Noah," the actress was reported to have come face to face with a fan who breached the film set's security and made his way to her location, according to Entertainment Wise. Recognizing the man as the same person she had seen lurking around her residence, Watson let out a scream which alerted the staff. The fan was then immediately removed from the premises. Apart from her fame, Watson also has a remarkably sizeable net worth which could be pointed out as yet another motive for evildoers to kidnap her.
