It is a sad and heartbreaking day for country music fans as the reigning "it" couple of this genre, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, officially called it quits after four years of marriage. In an exclusive report by TMZ, it was confirmed that the final touches of the couple's divorce have been settled mere hours after the duo announced their decision to split on Monday.

"This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately," the couple's statement read. They went on to say, "We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

According to TMZ, the court documents reveal that it was Shelton who filed for the divorce in Oklahoma. While most divorce cases typically involve quite a spectacle especially when it comes to financial matters, such is not the case with Lambert and "The Voice" judge as the two initiated a prenuptial agreement. Hence, TMZ reports that all concerns regarding their assets have been settled almost immediately. The report further indicates that the Oklahoma ranch will stay with Shelton while the family house in Nashville will be with Lambert.

Meanwhile, The Oklahoman (via News OK) disclosed that the divorce papers were officially filed on July 6. In an effort to conceal the identity of the parties and protect the two from further exposure of their personal lives, both Shelton and Lambert only used their initials in all the court documents. Monday saw the judge in charge of the case issuing a final decree, thereby dissolving the four-year marriage of the couple. While comments from both parties remain to be obtained, the publicist of Lambert confirmed the accuracy of the reports in terms of the fact that the "Something In The Water" singer and Shelton are truly divorced. The publicist said that the "reporting is accurate in terms that they are divorced."

With the uncertainty surrounding the reason behind the breakdown of their marriage, it comes as no surprise that various reports are now surfacing regarding infidelity claims against Shelton. However, a source tells PEOPLE that these rumors are untrue. "Blake is just that incredibly loyal and dedicated husband," insisted the insider who was identified as a close friend of Shelton. The source added, "I can guarantee you he has been faithful to that woman."

Shelton and Lambert tied the knot in 2011 in Texas.
