When news broke that One Direction member Louis Tomlinson fathered a child with Los Angeles stylist Briana Jungwirth, fans and followers of the widely popular British boy band began to speculate on the potential repercussions of this situation to the group - with some even going as far as saying that the pregnancy might spell the end of their era. While the public appears to be conflicted on the issue, one man stands firm on his opinion that the baby news should not be viewed in any other light but as a positive development for the group. In an interview with The Sun, X-Factor judge Simon Cowell reveals his stance on the issue.

Cowell shares that Tomlinson immediately called him when the latter found out that he will be a father soon. "I said to him, 'You man up. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that,'" the 55-year-old reveals, referring to his reaction when the 23-year-old told him about the pregnancy. "But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them," Cowell further told the understandably worried Tomlinson. He added, "This is your business but I'm here for you,'" presumably reiterating his support for the One Direction member.

Apart from the pregnancy itself, the issue becomes even more complicated as Jungwirth is not at all romantically linked to Tomlinson and is merely identified as a very close friend of the singer. In fact, the One Direction member has always been open about his long-term relationship with Eleanor Calder. With both issues combined, a number of the band's most loyal followers are anxious over the potential implications of this pregnancy on the lives of their idols. However, Cowell remains impassive by these so-called concerns.

"He didn't kill anyone," Cowell says, referring to the reactions of fans on the issue and how they might have erringly made quite a big deal over it. The producer added, "He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it's a plus, not a negative."

It appears that Tomlinson is taking to heart the pieces of advice imparted by Cowell. According to PEOPLE, the One Direction member is "happy and very excited about becoming a dad." While the news admittedly came as a surprise for both Tomlinson and Jungwirth, it looks like the two are now focused into making sure that the health and well-being of both the baby and the mother are the priorities at the moment.
