Rapper Nicki Minaj introduced her mom on stage after winning an award at the 2015 Road to the BET Awards on Sunday, June 28. Minaj won the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award. Other music artists who were nominated for the award were Iggy Azalea, Azaelia Banks, Tink, and Dej Loaf.
“I always talk about my mommy and this is the first time the world is going to see her. I love you so much,” said 32-year-old Minaj in her acceptance speech.
Minaj was nominated for the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award for two songs, “Only” and “Throw Sum Mo.” She was also nominated for the Best Collaboration award for her work with August Alsina on “No Love (Remix).” Minaj will put on a guest performance at the Road to the BET Awards later on in the evening.
The mom and daughter matched their look for the event. Minaj and her mom both wore long black dresses, styled their jet black hair by wearing it down, and wore bright pink lipstick. When they arrived, they took photos together on the red carpet. Minaj’s dress had a zipper in the front. Carol’s dress had leafy silver designs. She accessorized with a black clutch wallet with ruffles.
