May 2015 marked the end of an era for TLC’s reality television show ’19 Kids and Counting.’ After an investigative piece by In Touch magazine regarding eldest son Josh Duggar’s past of child molestation, 21 advertisers dropped the show. The show which aired on TLC is about a family of devout Independent Baptists who live in Tontitown, Arkansas.
The list of 21 corporate sponsors that immediately stopped supporting the show are Ace Hardware, ConAgra Foods, Party City, BEHR Paint, Pure Leaf Iced Tea, Ricola, Firehouse Subs, Pizza Hut, Sherwin-Williams, Crayola, Allstate Insurance, King's Hawaiian, Walgreens, General Mills, Payless ShoeSource, Choice Hotels, Keurig, H&R Block, CVS, Jimmy Dean, and David's Bridal.
The show stars Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, the two parents of the show. Jim is 49 years old and his wife is 48 years old. The show features 19 children which includes Josh, Jana Marie, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn, and Josie.
“I don’t know if the rest of our family should be punished for the act of one of our children [for] something that happened 12 years ago or not, but we are fine whether they film us or not. We are going to go on and live life, and we are going to serve God and make a difference in the world,” said Jim Bob in an interview with Megyn Kelley from FOX news on Wednesday, June 3.
Parents Jim Bob and Michelle have 19 children together. All of the children have names that begin with the letter “J.” In the show, they usually discuss their faith in God. All children are homeschool and have limited access to the internet and the media.
