Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias pressed the pause button on his Mexico tour on Monday, June 1 after undergoing reconstructive hand surgery. The Billboard Hot 100 artist cut his hand on a flying drone during the midst of his concert tour in Tijuana, Mexico on Saturday, May 30. Iglesias described Monday morning as “That day when you feel like you woke up on a bed of nails” on his official Twitter account.

“Something went wrong and he had an accident. He decided to go on and continued playing for 30 minutes while the bleeding continued throughout the show," stated a press release on Sunday, May 31.

In a Youtube video uploaded by a concertgoer, Iglesias is seen on stage donning a white shirt, cap, and blue jeans. The singer is holding a large flying drone with his left hand. He turns his back to the crowd for a brief moment in attempts to maneuver the drone with both hands. Almost immediately, Iglesias jerks his body forward after turning towards the stage. He releases the drone with a surprised look of minor shock across his face. Seconds later, his right hand is seen visibly wallowing up in pools of blood. The disastrous chain of events were released to the online community in a video taken by a mobile phone by Alfredo Alvarez.

“Thank you to all for your concern and good wishes. Enrique is currently undergoing reconstructive hand surgery today. He will resume his tour July 3rd in Mexico City. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers," said a representative.
