Sheriff Pope catches Ethan trying to hop town and arrests him. He tells him he does not believe that Ethan is a Secret Service Agent. Ethan has no ID or badge to prove it. A group of teenagers pass them by while saying, “Don’t try to leave Mr. Burke, that’s rule number one.” ‘Wayward Pines’ is a thriller mystery television series based on the novel Pines by Blake Crouch. Season 1 Episode 2 “Don’t Discuss Your Life Before” aired on Thursday, May 21 on FOX.

Ethan spends the night in a hotel room and revisits the corpse of Agent Bill Evans in the morning. He finds a notebook in his shoe. Sheriff Pope threatens Ethan to leave the premises, so Ethan goes to find Beverly. Beverly tells Ethan that she and Bill had planned on escaping together. She said that the plan was written down in a notebook.

Ethan decides to track down Kate, his ex-partner. She works in a toy store with her husband Harold. Ethan buys a couple of toys with money that Beverly gave him. Realizing that the money is fake, Ethan yells, “the whole town is flooded with counterfeit money!” Ethan leaves the toy store and sees a sign that reads the rules of Wayward Pines: “Do not try to leave, do not discuss the past, do not discuss your life before, and always answer the phone when it rings.” Ethan finds Patricia, Bill’s ex-wife and asks what really happened to Bill.

“My husband wasn’t murdered. He killed himself” says Patricia.

After hearing the news, he reports back to Sheriff Pope. The sheriff tells Ethan that the corpse is in the hospital. Ethan returns to the hospital where the nurse and doctor wish to conduct on his brain, but quickly leaves after finding the notebook. Ethan hallucinates and sees his wife Theresa and son Ben being pushed on hospital stretchers.

In reality, his wife Theresa and son Ben are safe at home. Although, being frustrated at not being able to locate her husband, she plans on finding him herself. Theresa and Ben plan a road trip to Boise, Idaho to find answers. Ethan and Beverly find a map of the town and Bill’s escape plan. Beverly tells Ethan to take out a tracking device from his arm. Beverly tells Ethan how Bill really died. Sheriff pope killed him in the town square with everyone watching.

“The more you see, the less anything makes sense in this town.” says Beverly.

Harold and Kate report to the town authorities that Ethan and Beverly are trying to run away. In the middle of the night, every single telephone in the town sings and all the townspeople run out from their homes to conduct a search. Beverly is caught after she parts ways from Ethan. Sheriff Pope kills her in front of the whole town.

Ep. 2 “Don’t Discuss Your Life Before” was directed by Charlotte Sieling and written by Chad Hodge. Ep. 3 “Our Town, Our Law” airs on Thursday, May 28. Each episode runs for 42-44 minutes.
