Fans can never get enough of Game of Thrones, and many have urged its author, George R.R. Martin, to write the next chapters much faster. But good news is, Martin will be reading a chapter from the next book this weekend at the Conquest event, which will be happening in Kansas City. The event will be from Friday, May 22, to Sunday, May 24.

"I hear that everything is up to date in Kansas City, so I am heading that way to check it out for myself. Next weekend I will be Editor Guest of Honor at Conquest, KC's long-running regional con, and one of my very favorites," Martin posted on his official blog on May 18.

He also gave a brief story of his previous travels to the city, where he met Howard Waldrop, ", with whom I'd been exchanging letters since 1963." The author also mentioned how he kept visiting Kansas City for the KC Con whenever he can.  He started attending the event in 1972.

"The 1976 worldcon in KC -- MidAmericon -- still ranks as the best worldcon of all time, in my not so humble opinion. Even if I did lose two Hugos there," Martin shared.

The author of "GoT" has yet to finish "The Winds of Winter," which is the sixth instalment in the series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Earlier this year, Martin has announced that he would have to skip some engagements to focus on writing and finishing off the series. Hence, confirming his attendance of the event came as a surprise to many of his followers.

"Yes, I will be reading a chapter from THE WINDS OF WINTER there, and yes, I'll talk about ICE AND FIRE and my other writing," Martin has confirmed on his blog.

He also mentioned that the emphasis, however, will be on the editing of the "Wild Cards" series. He also clarified that one of his two autograph signing events will be limited to those series he has edited, to set everyone's expectations.

George R.R. Martin also noted that it is the first time that he has been honored for his editorial expertise, and that most awards and honors he received in the past are for his profession as an author.
