Hillary Rodham Clinton, former United States Secretary of State will announce her Presidential nomination on Sunday, April 12. Clinton will represent the Democratic party in the upcoming 2016 election.

Clinton was the 67th U.S. Secretary of State, the U.S. Senator of New York, and First Lady of the United States. Her husband is former President Bill Clinton. She ran for presidency against President Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential Election. While President Obama made history for being the first African-American U.S. President, Clinton made history for being the first former First Lady to become a member of the U.S. Cabinet.

Her political standpoints on controversial topics are pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, anti-illegal immigration, and pro-health care.

Here are some of her quotes regarding these topics:

“We're always going to argue about abortion. It's a hard choice and it's controversial, and that's why I'm pro-choice, because I want people to make their own choices.”

“Gay rights are human rights.”

"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigration."

"We all want a health care system that is universal, high-quality and affordable, so that parents don't have to choose between care for themselves or their children or be stuck in dead-end jobs simply to keep their insurance," Clinton said on NBC news.

Clinton received her formal education at Wellesley College and Yale Law School. She is a member of the United Methodist Church.
