After getting sidelined for most of the season due to injury, Indiana's Paul George may finally return by season's end.
According to a report by ESPN, several news sources from all over the NBA have been claiming that the 24-year-old forward will be suiting up for the Pacers this coming week.
In the report, Indiana management was actually thinking of playing George during the team's home game against Brooklyn Saturday. However, the Pacers' 95-92 loss against the Cavaliers last night led coach Frank Vogel to postpone the superstar's debut.
In the report, a team official said that they will provide more updates regarding George's return on Monday.
Interestingly, the report indicated that Indiana has been trying its best not to place a timetable for George's return, unlike what happened to Derrick Rose. In an interview with an unnamed Indiana player, he said that George is "not even close to 100 percent".
PG24 himself stated that he would only try to 'get his feet wet' again once he steps on the court by season's end. The report stated that he believes he will be fully ready by the start of next season.
George has been Indiana's primary offensive force for the last two years, as he continued to increase his overall scoring average - leading the Pacers to consecutive respectable finishes in the post-season.
During the 2013-14 season, George broke out of his shell, as he posted 21.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists each game. He was also among the leaders when it comes to steals, posting 1.9 steals per game.
Due to his increasing popularity throughout the NBA, George was included in the pool for the USA Team which competed during the FIBA World Cup in Spain last year.
Unfortunately, in a televised footage of a scrimmage, the 6"9' forward followed and tried to block a fastbreak layup from fellow US team player James Harden. In a report by SB Nation, George's right leg hit the court's stanchion, breaking the player's tibia and fibula bones.
George immediately underwent surgery, and his return has since been highly anticipated by Indiana fans. Unfortunately, Indiana's core began breaking apart after Lance Stephenson chose to sign with the Bobcats during the free agency period.
Once PG24 returns, and if he returns next week, fans would expect him to turn things around for the Pacers, who are desperately needing a spark that would bring them back to the playoffs.
