This year, LG Electronics decided to miss the festivities of the Mobile World Congress in order to better prepare its upcoming flagship, the LG G4.

However, in a new report, a mysterious device has just appeared on US regulatory website Federal Communications Commission (FCC), showcasing a massive display, and some features that have not been connected to the LG G4.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the device was spotted bearing the model number LG LS770, and is bound for US carrier Sprint.

Based on the listing, the Android-powered device will boast a 5.8-inch display, possibly with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution. Based on the device's dimensions, the unknown LG handset will surely be a massive device.

The LG phone is 79.3 mm wide by 154.1 mm tall (about 3.12 by 6.07 inches),  putting it at a slightly larger size category compared to the LG G3.

Considering all of the Korean brand's releases last year, the only notable model that comes to mind is the LG G Pro 2, which was originally a Galaxy Note rival.

Announced during the MWC last year, the device is definitely a beast, boasting a 5.7-inch display and powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP primary camera.

Unfortunately, LG's timing was reportedly off especially that other devices released during that time was running on the latest Snapdragon 801 chipset.

So back to the mystery device, the phone reportedly has a removable back cover, a 3,000mAh battery, and support for 4G LTE connectivity. For those thinking that this would be the LG G4, think again.

In the simple sketch accompanying the FCC listing, the LG smartphone does not have the usual power button and volume rockers at the back. These features have already made it to at least two previous LG flagships, so it does not make sense that the Korean manufacturer are taking away those features now.

Finally, the unknown LG device is constructed using polycarbonate plastic. Last year, the G Pro 2 had the same material.

However, no matter how similar this device is to the G Pro 2, a rumor coming from a Korean report stated that it plans to launch a brand new model that will be better than the G Pro series.

Meanwhile, the LG G4, which is the tech manufacturer's upcoming Android flagship, will reportedly be unveiled in April or May, and would run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
