'Terminator 6' Cast & Plot Rumors: Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms His Return to the Follow-Up Film

Just months before the release of ‘Terminator: Genisys’, Arnold Schwarzenegger recently confirmed that he will be returning for ‘Terminator 6’, a follow-up film to the fifth movie.

‘Terminator: Genisys’ has been set for an official release this July with which fans will get to see Schwarzenegger back in action for his iconic title role. His last ‘Termninator’ film, ‘Rise of the Machines’, was released in 2003.

Aside from the 67-year-old action star, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke joins the cast and plays the role of Sarah Connor, who became a popular character, thanks to the portrayal by Linda Hamilton.

Other actors who have signed on to ‘Terminator: Genisys’ include Jai Courtney who plays Kyle Reese and Jason Clarke who portrays John Connor. Former ‘Doctor Who’ actor Matt Smith has also joined the cast and will reportedly be playing a major role, although no specific details have been announced.

Alan Taylor, who worked on ‘Thor: The Dark World’, directed ‘Terminator: Genisys”. While Laeta Kalogridis (‘Shutter Island’) and Patrick Lussier (‘Drive Angry’) came up with the screenplay.

The movie began filming last April 2014 in New Orleans and San Francisco, and was backed with an estimated production budget worth $170 million.

The last installment in the franchise, ‘Terminator: Salvation’, starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington was met with negative reviews and eventually landed at a lower spot in the global box office.

Meanwhile, the upcoming ‘Terminator’ film will be focusing on events that took place between 1984 and 1991. The new movie generated some hype when details about revisiting previous ‘Terminator’ films were revealed, suggesting the concept of time travel mechanics.

‘Terminator: Genisys’ was then compared to other movies, including ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, which similarly made use of time travel elements.

The official release date for ‘Terminator: Genisys’ is on July 1, 2015.

It was previously reported that the two upcoming sequels for Paramount's ‘Terminator’ franchise are to be released on May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018, one of which is likely to be the rumored ‘Terminator 6.’
