John Ryan, the lead story writer for "Guild Wars 2," has left the game's development studio ArenaNet and joined Bungie to work on its first-person shooter "Destiny," VG247 reported.

According to Ryan, he will serve as the game's editor and loremaster.

The story writer made the announcement through his Twitter account on Feb. 12.

"Tomorrow is my last day here at ArenaNet," Ryan tweeted. "Next week, I'll be heading over to Bungie to be their new editor/loremaster."

Ryan first joined ArenaNet in 2010 and served the company for almost five years. He was in charge of developing the narrative storyline including the dialogues in "Guild Wars 2," according to Game Spot.

Aside from the game development studio, he also worked as a writer for various publications such as the online news site MSNBC, Microsoft Game Studios, Xbox Live and MSN Games.

Although one would probably assume that Ryan's new job title involves overseeing the overall development of a game's script and plot, an article on Forbes noted that the position of loremaster comes with a different set of responsibilities.

According to the report, in the world of "Destiny," the Grimoire cards provide additional information regarding the game's lore. These cards are items that can be unlocked after players have completed certain tasks.

Forbes noted that although Ryan's new job may involve heavily working on the contents of Grimoire cards, he may be assigned to work on the other narrative aspects of "Destiny."

For now, the former ArenaNet employee is the latest addition to Bungie. The company is currently looking to fill a total of 71 positions.

Although some of the available positions involve working on Bungie's corporate operations, most of them are related to the company's game projects. Some of the job positions include senior environment artist, senior raid activity designer, player support specialist and engine programmer.
