Google announced that it will soon launch its ultra-high speed internet services to 18 cities in the southeastern part of the United States.

According to ABC News, the search giant went to Twitter to announce the big news, to the delight of consumers in the area. In the report, the cities where Google Fiber will be available include 'Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Raleigh-Durham metro areas'.

The announcement immediately called for a celebration among residents within the area as Google Fiber is seen as the best internet provider in the country today.

In the report, Google claimed that its Internet technology is up to 100 times faster than the basic broadband connection. In practical terms, downloading a movie will take only about two minutes.

The Google Fiber service is also expected to make a big impact in educational institutions in the area, as well as some research facilities. Aside from the education and science and technology sectors, the high-speed Internet connection can also help businesses expand and grow within the region.

In the report, Google remained silent about the pricing details and exact date of Google Fiber internet services' arrival in the said cities. However, reports indicated that Google currently offers its Google Fiber services for $70 a month, or $120 for a television and Internet bundle in Kansas where it is already available.

In the report, Google Fiber's vice president Dennis Kish mentioned the many possibilities that their services can bring to all sectors of the region.

"New research from the Fiber to the Home Council shows gigabit networks are contributing billions of dollars in economic growth," Kish said.

"Communities across America are demanding more speed for their own homes and businesses, and we're going to keep doing our part to help," he added.

In spite Google's status as the top search engine and its success in the Android world, the company is still looking to venture into newer areas. Some of the newer programs of Google include the Project Ara smartphone which aims to promote the world's first modular smartphone, Google Glass and even an automobile.

In a previous report, Google is even planning to compete with local network providers such as T-Mobile and Sprint.
