For smartphone and Android fans who have been waiting to get their hands on the latest update for their Samsung Galaxy S5, this will definitely be good news.

According to a report by Know Your Mobile, the much awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update has already been made available to Galaxy S5 devices in the United Kingdom, as well as other selected markets.

Announced before the end of last year, Lollipop is slated to be the biggest update Android has ever received. Some of the features which come with Android 5.0 include the 'Material Design' which drastically improved the UI experience.

Now, the interactions and transitions are more '3D-like' and blend well with the new Dynamic Status bar feature. This allows the status bar to change in color based on the background of the application currently open.

Other improvements include a brand new notification area, as well as quick settings. Other supported features include Smart Lock, and an option to display notifications in the lockscreen.

Once all of these updates hit the Samsung Galaxy S5, experts believe that it will keep Samsung consumers busy while they are waiting for the Galaxy S6, which is expected to make its debut at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March.

While its successor is about to be unveiled, the Galaxy S5 remains as one of the top Android handsets around. It packs a 5.2-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and an option to go 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

The current flagship of the Galaxy S series also flaunts a unique design that will definitely turn people's heads. The camera is powered by a 16MP ISOCELL sensor which works well under almost any type of lighting condition.

Other features include S-Health, a fingerprint scanner, heart-rate monitor, and water and dust resistance.

In the report, Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy S5 should come in batches across the world, and is about 500MB.
