Ritz-Carlton Hotel company, owner of luxurious hotels around the globe, doesn't only focus on business. The hotel chain giant is the first partner founder of IMPACT 2030, a global initiative for companies to volunteer for a good cause.

IMPACT 2030 was launched last week and is a collaboration among members of the business sector and the United Nations. Its goal is to help UN, through corporate employee volunteering, attain sustainable development in 2030.

"Impact 2030 leverages the momentum of the United Nations resolution A/RES/66/67 adopted by the 66th General Assembly which states the following: The General Assembly welcomes the expanding involvement of the private sector in support of volunteerism, and encourages its further engagement through the expansion of corporate volunteering and employee volunteer activities," IMPACT 2030 shares on its website.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has become the first founding partner of IMPACT 2030: The global initiative for the advancement of corporate volunteering. Ritz Carlton properties in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), composed of six countries in the Middle East, will be organizing programs and activities for the cause.

Students will be trained on hospitality to prepare them for helping local charitable institutions. According ot The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company COO and President Herve Humler, the collaboration of forces will allow them to "make a significant impact." Humler went shares that they will be working with other stakeholders and partners to address important and urgent issues.

Ritz-Carlton also started Community Footprints, which will participate in various activities for IMPACT 2030. Some of the activities include:

  • Hosting of interview skills classes to help improve students' social skills (Ritz-Carlton Berlin)
  • Nature conservation through planting to conserve and protect the Ghaf tree (Ritz-Carlton Dubai)
  • Renovation Family House, a center that supports families in low income communities (Ritz-Carlton San Francisco).

The Ritz-Carlton has 87 hotels in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Carribean, and the Americas. The company was founded in 1983, and is a subsidiary of the Marriott Hotels.
