The United States Mission to the United Nations hosted "Victims' Voices: A Conversation on North Korean Human Rights," a panel of testimonies from North Korean defectors at the United Nations headquarters in New York on April 30 at 10:30 AM. Representatives from each country, 30 defectors, leaders of Korean human rights organizations, and international press were present. Re-Listing North Korea as a State Sponsor of Terrorism Will Influence Human Rights Conditions, Human Rights Group Says

The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK) presented its latest report on the North Korea during one of the events of North Korea Freedom Week (NKFW) on April 27 at 6 PM at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. During this presentation of the report, called "Arsenal of Terror: North Korea's Role as a State Sponsor of Terrorism," the HRNK recommended that the U.S. clarify the standards of what defines a country to be a state sponsor of terrorism, and that the North Korean government be re-designated as a state sponsor of terrorism (SSOT). The 12th annual North Korea Freedom Week will be taking place from April 26 to May 2 this year, in Washington, D.C. and New York. North Korea Freedom Week (NKFW) started in 2004, and has taken place in April at Washington, D.C. each year. Since 2010, most of the activities of the NKFW took place in South Korea to spread awareness of the condition of human rights in North Korea and gather interest in South Korean citizens.
