Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice raked in big bucks at the box office across the US and in the international market, according to latest media reports.
The Warner Bros production is directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavil, and registered good revenues worldwide.
The movie grossed $15 million in the country on Monday, and combined with $31 million overseas earnings, the day's total stood at $46 million.
Thus far, the superhero flick drew $181 million in US, and $287 around the globe, making its total earnings close to about $469 million. Therefore, going by the current trend, the movie is expected to cross the $500 worldwide collections mark this week.
The movie has overall done well at the box office, and at present ranks fourth in the global earnings just behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
However, box-office pundits point out that the movies have different systems of logging foreign rollouts, as many of the movies did not include China in their totals, but Batman v Superman did.
The movies which are behind BvS are Ghost, The Revenant, and Aladdin, but are not expected to trail with huge gaps.
With the release of two mega movies this weekend - God's Not Dead 2 and Meet the Blacks, the movie may drop down substantially from screens in the coming week.
In spite of very poor reviews, the movie is doing comparatively better at the box office, and it seems that the word-of-mouth reviews are doing better than the CinemaScore and Rotten reviews.
Industry estimates say that the movie may drop 65%, which is a very steep decline, attributed to the poor reviews.
Compared to other hit movies in the past, the film is not reflecting too bad a score in terms of its affinity with the audience.
It's $166.1 million opening with B rating at CinemaScore, and 29% grade at Rotten Tomatoes is not poor compared to other hits of the past, such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 2 (opening $138.1M; CinemaScore B+; Rotten 24%), and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (opening $109M; CinemaScore B+; Rotten 19%).
Surprisingly, the movie was the biggest opening in UK this year, with a highest debut in any superhero category ever. But still the blockbuster slips to third position in UK records, if revenues from Thursday night previews are combined with the opening totals, after Avengers: Age of Ultron and its predecessor Marvel Avengers Assemble.
