Pokémon fans are eager to get their hands on Pokémon Go, the augmented reality game for iOS and Android devices, which has been making a lot of noise over the past several months.

While developers are keeping major details under wraps, Niantic Labs revealed that they will be sending invites to selected users this month to test the beta version of the highly anticipated game.

"The Pokémon Company and Niantic will be inviting users to field test Pokémon GO in Japan later this month," the developer said in a statement. "The Pokémon GO field test program will give users the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokémon GO experience."

The field test will be conducted in order to give developers idea on the facets of the game that they need to work on. With this, qualified beta users will have to commit that they will not leak information or beta contents.

According to Tech Times, the initial phase of the field test will be available exclusively in Japan, but will also be rolled out in other markets in the coming weeks or months. Pokémon Go developers remains mum, though, on when the field test will be launched in other parts of the world.

Pokémon fans all over the world were supposed to get a glimpse and know more information about the Pocket Monster game at GDC 2016. However, Niantic CEO John Hanke announced that the GDC talk will not push through, saying that they want to focus on assuring that fans will get a flawless game once it hits Google Play and Apple App Store later this year.

"We have decided to forego our GDC talk on Pokémon GO in order to focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch," Hanke said in a statement via Game Informer. "As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be."

Fans need not worry, though, as previous reports indicated that the companies involved -- Niantic, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo -- are focused on providing the best possible gaming experience to Pokémon Go fans. The trio have already pledged $30 million for the game. Express UK recently reported that the developers were also able to raise additional $5 million funds from several companies, including Alsop Louie Partners and Fuji Television.
