Sony has unveiled the official lineup of games that will be given away for free for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms through its PlayStation Plus service.

The free games will be available starting next month.

As noted by the company in the PlayStation Blog, the free games for the various platforms will be available starting on January 5, or the first Tuesday of the month. And, like in previous offerings, only subscribers of PlayStation Plus will be able to take advantage of the giveaway program.

Starting next month, PlayStation owners will get to enjoy a total of six games divided across Sony's different gaming systems. For the PlayStation 3, these include "Medal of Honor Warfighter" and "Dragon: Age Origins."

The first game is a first-person shooter developed by EA in 2012. It is the fourteenth installment in the "Medal of Honor" series. "Dragon Age: Origins," on the other hand, first arrived in 2009.

Also debuting next month through the PlayStation Plus are "Grim Fandango Remastered," "Legends of War: Patton" and "Nihilumbra" for the PlayStation Vita. The first game, which will also be available for the PlayStation 4 next month, features a story that's heavily based on the Aztec concept of the afterlife.

The second game for Sony's handheld console puts gamers in the shoes of General George S. Patton during World War II. Lastly, "Nihilumbra" is a platform game that features five different worlds for gamers to explore.

Another game that will arrive for the PlayStation 4 is "Hardware: Rivals." The game, which features both single-player and online multiplayer modes, focuses on vehicular combat. It also contains several maps, game modes and other special matches.

While waiting for Sony to unveil the free games next month, PlayStation players can take advantage of the PlayStation Network's Holiday Sale. According to Gamespot, the promotional event has now entered its final week and is scheduled to end on January 4, just a day before Sony's releases the upcoming free titles.
