Square Enix has released a new DLC for "Rise of the Tomb Raider."

According to the company, the latest content update features a new survival-themed mode as well as other items.

As reported by Gamespot, the DLC, titled Endurance Mode, is included in the Season Pass of the game which costs $29.99. But, this who didn't purchase this bundle can buy the content update separately for $10.

As suggested by its title, the DLC will test gamers' survival skills and how long they will be able to endure the harsh elements in the wild. But, aside from battling against the natural elements, gamers will also have to take on human enemies as well.

"Alone and in the wild, Lara [Croft] must scrounge, scavenge, craft and survive the harsh elements by day, as well as lethal threats from enemies, both man and beast, by night," the developers wrote on the game's Xbox Store page.

"This is her ultimate woman-versus-wild test to push the limits of how long she can survive on her own in sprawling, unforgiving landscapes," Square Enix added. "Fire takes fuel, cold kills the unprepared, food restores health, but everything must be caught, collected or crafted."

As noted by the studio, in Endurance Mode, players begin without any items in their inventory and must rely on the things they will find in their environment. The gamer who will be able to survive for the longest amount of time will be named as the Ultimate Survivor in the game's leaderboards.

Square Enix also mentioned that the DLC features a new outfit and weapon for Croft. However, the studio did not provide a description for these items.

Aside from the Endurance Mode DLC, gamers can also look forward to the release of the expansion pack "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch." Arriving in January of next year, this will come with new tombs to explore, puzzles to solve and a new campaign that will pit Croft against the Baba Yaga, a supernatural being based on Slavic folklore.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider," the second installment in the "Tomb Raider" reboot series, came out as a timed-exclusive title for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles in November of this year.

According to Engadget, the game will arrive for the PC platform in early 2016. PlayStation 4 owners, on the other hand, can expect to see the version of the game for their consoles by the end of next year.
