There has been a lot of hype surrounding "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode entitled "The Opening Night Excitation" because it signalled a big step going forward in Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler's relationship.

Now Mayim Bialik, the actress who portrays Amy is taking fans behind the scenes of the episode, and is sharing some interesting details on the set before and after they filmed Sheldon and Amy's special moment.

They even had fun with Sheldon sharing his birthday gift plans for Amy with Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch). According to Bialik, they experimented with Kaley doing spit takes, dropping the glass, and snapping the top off the glass.

"All were super funny. As you saw, we went with snapping the top off the glass," Bialik said in her Grok Nation blog.

It seems like Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon was also a bit nervous filming the scene because he unintentionally broke the set props!

"When Sheldon shows up with flowers and the door is chained (in Amy's room), in the first rehearsal, Jim opened the door so hard it broke the lock clear off the door. They fixed it right away but he made sure to be gentler every other time," said Bialik.

The actress added that her character has always been very bundled up in the show, so when she appeared in a nightgown, it was the first time her arms and legs were exposed.

"We chose a nightgown that we felt would reflect her style and conservative nature, while being shorter than her clothes tend to be, and a small cap sleeve," she said.

And as pale as Bialik and Parsons were, neither of them opted for any body makeup, which most actors use to film such scenes.

"He and I both were fine looking as pale and pasty as we are. The makeup team took the shine off of our skin a bit so we wouldn't cause flares from the lights, but what you see there, that's pretty much us," she said.

The excitement both of them felt over their characters' love scene was too much that Bialik and Parsons kept communicating with each other as the episode was aired.

"In case you're curious, Jim and I texted before and after the episode aired as well as tagging each other beforehand on Instagram. It's like we made a baby and everyone got to see it for the first time tonight," she jokingly said.
