Those who will get the PC version of the upcoming "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will get a chance to create their own maps and game modes through special modding tools.

Treyarch, the developer of the game, confirmed that the modding and mapping tools will be released for PC gamers sometime in 2016.

According to a blog post from the studio, the tool will allow gamers to create new content for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" for the PC. Treyarch will also launch an Unranked Server Browser so gamers will be able to access servers that contain modded content.

As for the modders, they can operate servers with the content they create through the upcoming Unranked Dedicated Server Browser.

Treyarch plans to host a closed alpha test for the modding tools sometime in March of next year. The company, however, has not yet released details on how PC gamers can participate in the closed alpha. But, the studio assured fans of the "Call of Duty" franchise that open beta events will be held in the future, Gamespot has learned.

Also, it is not yet clear of Treyarch will allow console gamers to access the content created by PC players using the tools through the servers. But, according to Cesar Stasty, the director of development for Treyarch, features of the modding and mapping tools can still change depending on the results of the tests.

"Please remember that this is software development, so things don't always work out exactly as planned," he wrote in the blog post. "Sometimes features slip or drop off altogether, sometimes they get replaced with other, more awesome features as we hit into limitations of our original plans."

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will come out on November 6 for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

Although the game will launch on the same date across multiple platforms, Sony has forged an exclusivity deal with publisher Activision regarding the release of its future DLCs. As part of the deal, the first wave of content updates for the game will debut first for the PlayStation consoles before hitting Microsoft's Xbox systems, according to IGN.

One of the highly anticipated features of the upcoming game is its cooperative campaign. Through this feature, up to four players can team up to take on the game's storyline. The feature, however, will only be available for the game's next-gen versions due to the technical limitations of last-gen platforms.
